General Information About Examinations

The examinations administered by HİTİT-TÖMER are:

• -Placement Test
• -Level-End Examination
• -Turkish Proficiency Examination

Documents and certificates issued for these examinations are valid for two years.

All examinations administered at HİTİT-TÖMER are designed to assess the four fundamental language skills in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The following skills are assessed:

• -Reading
• -Listening
• -Writing
• -Independent and interactive speaking

Each skill is worth 25 points, for a total of 100 points.

The fees for examinations organized by HİTİT-TÖMER are determined by the University Board of Directors upon the recommendation of the TÖMER Board of Directors.

The date, time, location, and other relevant information regarding examinations are announced on the official HİTİT-TÖMER website.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: In accordance with the decisions of the Yunus Emre Institute and the University Board of Directors, documents obtained from institutions other than the universities specified in the relevant decisions are not accepted as valid documents for registration at HİTİT-TÖMER. In addition, only face-to-face examinations administered by the specified universities are accepted; online examinations are not accepted.

Placement Test

Anyone who wishes to study at HİTİT-TÖMER and determine their Turkish language proficiency level may take this examination.

The examination assesses the four fundamental language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Each skill is worth 25 points, for a total of 100 points.

The language levels of candidates who take the Placement Test are determined according to the following score ranges:

C2	90–100

Based on the examination score, candidates are placed in the corresponding course level.

Placement Test Fee and Duration

• -The examination fee for YTB scholarship holders is free of charge.
• -The first proficiency examination held at the beginning of each academic year is free of charge for all students.
• -Other proficiency examinations held during the academic year are subject to a fee, regardless of whether the candidate is taking the examination for the first time.
• -The examination fee is determined by the Board of Directors.
• -Students who have already paid the course fee and registered for a course organized by the Center are not charged an additional Placement Test fee.
• -Examination fee: $50
• -Duration: 120 minutes
• -Examination results are announced to candidates on the Center's official website.
• -A Placement Test Results Certificate may be issued upon request and is subject to a fee.
• -If deemed necessary, the course instructor may change the level assigned to a student based on the Placement Test results during the first week of the course, with the approval of the relevant unit coordinator.

Level-End Examination

Students studying at HİTİT-TÖMER take a Level-End Examination at the end of each level. The passing score is 60.

Students must achieve at least the minimum score specified below in each of the four skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking.

• -If a student scores below the minimum score in only one skill, they are given one make-up examination opportunity within one week, limited to that skill.
• -If a student scores below the minimum score in more than one skill, they are considered unsuccessful.
• -Students who are unable to attend the Level-End Examination for a valid reason accepted by HİTİT-TÖMER are given the opportunity to take a make-up examination. The student or a relative must notify the Center of the reason within two business days following the examination.
• -The dates of make-up examinations are determined by the Center as soon as possible.
• -Examination duration: 120 minutes
• -Examination fee: Free of charge

Turkish Proficiency Examination

To take the Turkish Proficiency Examination, candidates must have documentation demonstrating at least B2-level Turkish proficiency.

Candidates who wish to take the examination are charged a fee determined by the Board of Directors.

The examination may be administered within Türkiye or abroad.

To pass the Turkish Proficiency Examination, candidates must obtain at least 15 points in each skill and a minimum total score of 60 points. Candidates who score below 60 out of 100 or below 15 in any individual skill are considered unsuccessful.
