1. What are the career opportunities for graduates of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration? In which sectors can they work?

Graduates can work in both the public and private sectors, in national or international institutions, in administrative or managerial roles. They may also pursue an academic career in higher education. 

2. Is an internship mandatory in the program? If not, how can students arrange a voluntary internship?

Internship is not mandatory for graduation. However, students who wish to do an internship voluntarily are supported by the department.

3. Is it possible to study abroad through Erasmus or other exchange programs? What are the application requirements?

Yes. Our department has bilateral agreements with 9 universities in various European countries. Eligible students who succeed in the selection exam can participate in Erasmus+ mobility programs.

5. Is a graduation thesis or capstone project required for graduation?

No. There is no graduation thesis requirement. Students who complete all compulsory and elective courses with the required credits are eligible to graduate.

 

6. Are there any applied courses or fieldwork opportunities in the department?

All courses are theoretical. However, the Volunteering Course includes components that allow for fieldwork and community engagement.

 

7. Is class attendance compulsory? What is the attendance threshold?

Yes. According to the Hitit University Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulation, students must attend at least 70% of each course. Otherwise, they are considered "Absent" and fail the course.

 

8. What are the requirements for applying to a double major program?

10. Does pursuing a double major or minor extend the time required for graduation?

It depends on the department in which the student pursues the double major or minor and the total course load.

 

11. Are exams mostly multiple-choice or open-ended?

It depends on the course content, the instructor’s teaching method, and the number of students enrolled.

 

13. What are the required number of credits and courses for graduation?

Students must complete 154 local credits and 240 ECTS credits to graduate.

14. Is the English preparatory class mandatory? Is there an exemption exam?

Yes, the English preparatory class is mandatory for the English-medium program. However, students who pass the exemption exam are not required to attend.

 

15. What are the requirements for applying to graduate (master’s or PhD) programs?

Graduate programs determine their criteria. However, based on the minimum standards set by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), a bachelor's GPA of at least 65/100 and an ALES (EA track) score of at least 55 are generally required. Many programs also require a valid English language exam score (e.g., YÖKDİL, ÜDS).
