The Double Major Program (DMP) is a program that allows students who meet certain requirements to take courses from two different programs simultaneously and graduate with two separate diplomas upon completing their courses. The main regulation regarding double major and minor programs is the “Regulation on Transition Between Associate and Undergraduate Programs, Double Major, Minor, and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer in Higher Education Institutions,” published in the Official Gazette No. 27561 on April 24, 2010.

According to this regulation, the Double Major Program is defined as a program that allows students who meet the academic requirements and other conditions to take courses from two degree programs of the same higher education institution simultaneously and obtain two separate diplomas. Additionally, in line with the relevant provisions in our university’s “Associate and Undergraduate Education-Training and Examination Regulations,” a Double Major Program Directive was issued on November 23, 2017.

The application requirements are arranged as follows in this directive:
Application and Admission Requirements:
Be enrolled in an undergraduate or associate degree program at the university.
Have not received any disciplinary penalty.
Have successfully completed all courses in the primary (major) degree program up to the semester of applying for the DMP.
Have a GPA of at least 2.75 out of 4.
Be in the third semester at the earliest and fifth semester at the latest for undergraduate major programs.
Be in the second semester at the earliest and third semester at the latest for associate major programs.
Rank among the top 20% of the relevant class in the major program in terms of academic performance.
Applications to the DMP are made to the relevant faculty dean’s office with the application form and transcript on the date specified in the academic calendar or by the senate. Students are admitted according to quotas and GPA ranking. In case of equal GPAs, the student’s ranking based on the entrance exam score type determined by ÖSYM in the year they were admitted to the major program is taken into account. Enrollment in more than one double major program at the same time is not allowed. However, it is possible to be enrolled simultaneously in a double major program and a minor program.
Students who have transferred horizontally cannot apply for a double major in the same academic term.
Students whose GPA in the major program is 2.75 or above but who do not rank within the top 20% of their class may apply for the double major program if their score meets or exceeds the base score of the program for that year.
