Rector Prof. Dr. Öztürk: ‘We demonstrate environmental awareness in every step we take’
Hitit University Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk stated in his remarks on the subject that the university administration demonstrates environmental awareness in every step it takes, expressing great pleasure in seeing the results of their efforts to become an environmentally friendly university despite the increase in the number of universities applying.
Prof. Dr. Öztürk said that Hitit University had surpassed many universities in the world and in Turkey in this year's GreenMetric World University Rankings, adding:
"In the 2023 evaluation, our university became the 248th most environmentally friendly university in the world and the 18th in Turkey. It has risen to 4th place among universities established after 2000. As a university, we systematically implement waste management procedures within the framework of the Integrated Environmental Information System (ECBS). We are one of the leading higher education institutions in areas such as recycling, lighting, and heating. We ensure the proper disposal of hazardous waste and separate recyclable waste on site for delivery to the relevant units. At our university, we continue to implement the trigeneration system, which is an exemplary practice in terms of environmental awareness. We also pay particular attention to environmental factors in new infrastructure and superstructure investments.
Rector Prof. Dr. Öztürk thanked the academic and administrative staff and students who contributed to and demonstrated sensitivity towards the practices implemented on the path to becoming an environmentally conscious university.
