Program accreditation is an independent and externally focused evaluation process that assesses whether undergraduate and associate degree programs in universities comply with specific quality standards. This process examines the educational structure of the program, the competence of academic staff, the adequacy of physical and digital infrastructure, the qualifications of student and graduate outcomes, and the level of integration into the quality assurance system.
As a result of evaluations carried out by nationally and internationally recognized accreditation agencies, programs are accredited for specific periods. This provides confidence to graduates, academic staff, students, and stakeholders, while also contributing to the institutional reputation of the university.
Hitit University regards program accreditation not merely as a process limited to external evaluation, but as a holistic approach aimed at systematically and sustainably improving quality in education. Across the university, many programs have already been accredited, some are in the application phase, and others continue their pre-application preparations. The process is coordinated and systematically monitored by the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF) Alignment and Accreditation Office established within our university.
Within the scope of program accreditations, processes carried out with national organizations such as IAA (Islamic Sciences Accreditation Agency), FEDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Science, Literature, Education, and Language Programs), MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs), STAR (Accreditation for Economics and Administrative Sciences Programs), and MEDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Vocational Schools Programs) are actively supported by our university. In addition, strategic steps are being planned for cooperation and applications with international organizations in relevant fields.
The accreditation process generally consists of the following stages:
Preparation of the self-evaluation report by the relevant program,
Documentation of the integration of the quality assurance system into processes,
Submission of the application to the accreditation agency,
On-site visit and stakeholder interviews by the evaluation team,
Announcement of the decision based on the final evaluation report,
Implementation of monitoring and continuous improvement activities during the accreditation period.
Hitit University has developed a support model that guides programs through all these stages, provides templates and examples of good practice, and organizes periodic meetings and training sessions. Within this scope, through the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF) Alignment and Accreditation Office:
Consultancy is provided to programs on technical issues such as preparing self-evaluation reports, establishing the link between learning outcomes and qualifications, and structuring the assessment and evaluation system,
Program-level quality studies are aligned with the Hitit University Quality Assurance System,
A roadmap in harmony with the university’s Strategic Plan is followed to increase the number of accredited programs.
Graduates of accredited programs gain a more competitive position in the labor market, while such programs also stand out in student preference and provide advantages in terms of international recognition. For academic staff, program accreditation offers institutional development opportunities in areas such as curriculum development, using teaching strategies aligned with outcomes, and adopting a culture of continuous improvement.
As Hitit University, in line with a quality-oriented approach to education and training, we encourage the accreditation processes of all our academic programs and manage this process in a transparent, participatory, and sustainable manner.
